Opening Day and What to Expect This Season

The 2025/26 ski season officially kicks off November 12, with early access reserved for Killington Winter Pass holders, Beast 365 members, and Ikon Pass holders. These guests will also enjoy a complimentary lunch and the largest expanse of opening-day terrain Killington has seen in recent years.

Open trails include Great Northern, Downdraft Headwall, Rime, Reason, and Upper East Falls, all in the upper-mountain zone. The K-1 Express Gondola and North Ridge Quad will be spinning from 9 AM to 4 PM daily, giving skiers access to a mix of intermediate and advanced runs (no beginner terrain will be operational for opening day).

The mountain opens to the general public on November 13, and from there, operations ramp up quickly as snowmaking expands across more of the iconic slopes.

The New Superstar Six-Pack Express

One of the most exciting updates this season is the debut of the Superstar Six-Pack Express, a high-speed, six-person chair built by Doppelmayr. Stretching 1,035 meters with an uphill capacity of 3,000 riders per hour, this new addition replaces the aging quad that had served Killington for nearly 40 years.

Vice President of Mountain Operations, Tait Germon, says, “It’s like riding your couch to the top of the mountain,” noting the new lift’s wide seats and smooth ride. The Superstar Six-Pack is part of more than $38 million in upgrades across the resort. They’ve even adjusted the directionality to make loading and unloading easier, reduce bottlenecks, and improve the overall guest experience.

This lift pairs perfectly with the Snowdon Six Express, a bubble-shielded chair installed in 2018 that carries guests up 1,352 meters to Snowdon Mountain. Together, they represent Killington’s push toward faster, warmer, and more weather-protected rides across the mountain.

Overview of the 22 Killington Ski Lifts

Killington Resort operates 22 total lifts, making it one of the most extensive systems in the eastern United States. It also boasts the highest vertical drop in New England—3,050 feet—and offers access to over 1,500 skiable acres across six interconnected peaks: Killington Peak, Skye Peak, Snowdon, Ramshead, Bear Mountain, and Sunrise.
