2. Enjoy the Local Bars and Distilleries
One of the best ways to get a taste of local Vermont is to visit some of our favorite bars and distilleries. Here are our top recommendations to try during your visit:
Jax Food & Games is one of the most casual, welcoming spots in town. The vibe is part pub, part arcade/pool hall, with good food, local beer, and plenty of games to keep your group entertained.
Killington Distillery crafts small-batch spirits and serves them in a mountain-modern space with patio seating and gorgeous views. Try the maple cask bourbon made with 100% Vermont maple syrup!
Long Trail Brewing Co. in Bridgewater Corners has been brewing since 1989 and still makes some of the best beers in the state. Their riverside beer garden is a great place to wind down after a day out. Enjoy the namesake Long Trail Ale or one of their summer seasonals like the Blackberry Wheat.
What kinds of spirits does Killington Distillery make?
You’ll find everything from blended whiskeys and maple bourbons to tequila-inspired agave spirits, gins, vodkas, and even canned cocktails.
3. Ride the K-1 Scenic Gondola
Summer views from the top of Killington Peak can’t be beaten, and the K-1 Scenic Gondola is the best way to see them.
The ride takes you to one of the highest accessible points in Vermont. From the summit, on a clear day, you can see up to five different states! There are picnic spots, photo ops, and even the Killington Adventure Center, where you can take a ride on an alpine coaster, play a round of disc golf, or test your skills on a ropes course.
4. Take a Day Trip
Killington is the perfect base for a one-day road trip through the heart of Vermont. We’ve even planned out the perfect route!
- Start in Woodstock with breakfast at Back Country Café, then stroll the village green, visit shops, and stop by Mon Vert Café.
- Head to Quechee and walk the gorge at the state park or cool off in a swimming hole. Great for hiking, fishing, or just soaking in the scenery.
- Next, drive to Norwich and visit the King Arthur Baking flagship store for pastries, fresh bread, and baking demos. It’s a great spot to stretch your legs and refuel.
- Wrap up in Bridgewater at Long Trail Brewing Co., then head back to Killington for dinner at one of our delicious restaurants.
