Join us for a full day of classic summer fun as we celebrate Independence Day in Killington. From the morning parade on River Road to kids’ games, a community barbecue, live music, and fireworks at the Johnson Recreation Fields, this family-friendly event brings the entire town together.
Events are sponsored by Killington Fire Department, Parks and Rec, Sherburne Memorial Library, Killington Search and Rescue, and the Transfer Station. Check the Killington Rec website for updates.
Schedule of Events
- 9:00 AM – Friends of the Library Book Sale
- 10:00 AM – Parade (River Road)
- 11:00 AM – Public swim at Johnson Rec Center with DJ Evan Foley
- 11:30 AM – Fire and Rescue BBQ at the pavilion
- 1:30 PM – Kids’ Field Games (no registration needed)
- 3:30 PM – Belly Flop Contest
- 7:00 PM – Live music by Summit Pond Quartet
- 9:00 PM – Fireworks at Johnson Recreation Fields
Parade Participation
All are welcome to join—businesses, clubs, families, and individuals.
- Enter a float using this year’s theme: “50 Years of Johnson Recreation Center.”
- Walk as a group or ride in the Kids’ Decorated Bike section (ages 12 and under)
- No water toys, alcohol, or literature handouts permitted

Fireman’s Barbecue
Support Killington Fire and Rescue with a post-parade cookout. Burgers, hot dogs, veggie options, and sides will be available. Donations of chips, salads, and desserts are welcome—check the Rec site for drop-off details closer to the date.
Parking
Parking will be limited to one side of River Road. Please carpool when possible.
Rain Date
In case of inclement weather, fireworks will be rescheduled for August 7 during the Chili Cook-Off at K-1 Base Lodge.
